The first event of the series ONE NIGHT STAND will be accomplished with a PROLOGUE in form of an open performative installation. This inaugural event shall raise provoking questions of how a project space or initiative could look like today.
The performance planned for the prologue evening is based on the draft of “Open Gallery”, a work from Max Konek and Jonathan Jung (2012). It will be executed by both artists with the support of other performers. It is an idealized and radical statement on how an independent space could act in our society. The “Open Gallery” should be representative for the heterogenic and non-institutional project activities in Berlin.

Contemporary art mostly is confined to a certain context, often it is misunderstood, considered as marginal or misused for economic reasons by the commercial art market. The society often doesn’t get the chance to confront art without restrictions. In this context the “Open Gallery” offers a forum and creates new confrontation possibilities with the public.

The performance, introduced by a short speech from organizers and members of the ONE NIGHT STAND series, will point out in short statements the following five points:
NO SPACE/ NO TIME/ NO CURATOR/ NO ARTISTS/ OPEN DISCOURSE

NO SPACE: the Open Gallery doesn’t occupy any precise space. The city is a gigantic open gallery and also should be used with this aim.
NO TIME: the Open Gallery has no time limits. The exhibition time will be decided trough the public dialogue. Everybody at any time has the possibility to open or to close an exhibition.
NO CURATOR: the Open Gallery isn’t represented or administrated by a specific person. The city belongs to every one of us.
NO ARTISTS: the Open Gallery has no selected artists – everyone is asked to be part of it.
OPEN DISCOURSE: the Open Gallery is for an open discussion. Everyone can participate in the work or in its process. Anyone has any specific right over an artwork.

ONE NIGHT STAND #01/NOTE ON
„CRAMPOGRAPHIES“
13.02.14, 7 – 11 pm
Venue: Chora, KW Institute for Contemporary Art
Auguststraße 69, 10117 Berlin
Entrance: 3 €

At the first evening of the planned ONE NIGHT STAND series the project space NOTE ON will present “Crampographies”, a critical performance and video program which reflect the potentiality of the cramp as a collective-singular collapse from a feminist and post-identitarian perspective. See below for more informations about the evening and the program.

CRAMPOGRAPHIES
Helga Wretman, Exercise Excerpt, 2012 (Videostill)

CRAMPOGRAPHIES / KRAMPFOGRAPHIEN
Curated by Ulrike Gerhardt, Susanne Husse and Imke Kannegiesser (NOTE ON)

In the frame of ONE NIGHT STAND, a project of KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin and the Network of Berlin Independent Project Spaces and Initiatives

With Ulf Aminde & Sabine Reinfeld, Nine Budde & Natascha Rossi, Ella de Burca, Tove El, FORT, Alicia Frankovich, Andrea Fraser, Daiga Grantina, Nilbar Güreş, Faye Green, Mathilde ter Heijne, Stine Marie Jacobsen, Annika Kahrs, Dafna Maimon, Falke Pisano, Elodie Pong, Britta Thie, Michel Vvolta and Helga Wretman

CRAMPOGRAPHIES are artistic acts of notation, measuring and immersion into states and topoi of physical tension that yield and resist the acceleration and exilement of the collective-singular body in capitalism. The chosen artistic performances and video works reflect and stimulate the corporeal knowledge as well as the chaotic energy of the (world-)physical cramp from a queer-feminist perspective. NOTE ON will present KRAMPFOGRAPHIEN / CRAMPOGRAPHIES on February 13, 2014 from 7 to 11p.m. at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art and the neighboring sports field in Auguststraße (Text: NOTE ON).

PROGRAM:
